On Thursday March 14, Cyclone Idai hit Beira–home to Health Alliance International's Mozambique program for over 30 years. The cyclone and its aftermath has destroyed an estimated 80-90% of the city's infrastructure leaving hundreds of thousands in a state of emergency.
Cyclone Idai is already being called the worst weather-related disaster to hit the southern hemisphere in decades. Perhaps ever.
Hospitals and health facilities across the region have sustained severe infrastructural and material damage. Hundreds have already lost their lives, and hundreds of thousands more are at risk of waterborne illness, food shortages, lack of secure housing, and more. Our colleagues in the Mozambique National Health System have reached out to HAI for support, and we are asking you to join us by making a donation today.
